After more than a century of ownership by the Gilbert family, the property at 34-36 High St, Strathalbyn is changing hands. 

The Gilbert family has passed ownership to the Strathalbyn Tourism Association. In the Gilbert family since 1901, Gilbert’s Garage will now continue as the Gilbert's Motor Museum in perpetuity providing certainty for the museum and the volunteers.

As a family, we are thrilled to witness this property continue to delight car enthusiasts nationwide, and honour the rich history of over a century of trading at this site can provide.  Our gratitude goes to the Strathalbyn Tourism Association, its dedicated committee and volunteers for their commitment to preserving and enhancing our combined motoring history on this site. We are confident that the Strathalbyn Tourism Association is the perfect custodian to carry forward this legacy.
